Jazz is a music that can be fairly well known both abroad and in Indonesia.Some event ever conducted in Indonesia such as Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, JakJazz, Big band, Jazz Goes to Campus.
Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (JIJJF) is the largest jazz festivals are held at the beginning of March in Jakarta, Indonesia by Java Festival Production since 2005. In addition to presenting jazz musicians abroad and within the country, the festival is also accompanied by musicians from other musical genres such as R & B, soul, reggae. Among the leading musicians who were present at the event in 2006 was James Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire, Eric Benet, Bubi Chen, and Angie Stone. In 2007 Sergio Mendes, Chaka Khan, Lisa Ono and Jamie Cullum are the musicians scheduled to perform. According to the festival's official website, more than 67,000 visitors attended the three-day festival in 2006.
Big band is a form of musical ensemble that plays jazz music and which became popular during the Swing Era from 1935 until the late 1940s. Big band typically consists of 12 to 19 players and music using musical instruments saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and a rhythm section. The terms jazz band, jazz orchestra, and dance band is also used to refer to this type of ensemble.
Jazz Goes to Campus (JGTC) is an annual jazz-themed event with the top jazz festivals in the UI-initiated by the Student Senate FEUI. This activity took place since 1978, one year after the start of the oldest and largest jazz festival in the world, North Sea Jazz Festival, and claimed to be the oldest jazz festival in Indonesia.
